"offering hospitality to all God's children"

Picnic - Our all church picnic is Sunday, August 30 starting around 11:30 am at the Wadsworth Picnic Area and Shelter in Sand Run Park. It is closer to Portage Path than to Sand Run Road. Bring your own table service and a dish to share with others. If you could help with grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, let David Loar know deloar@yahoo.com. Also, if you have outdoor games that good be played in the field in front of the pavilion, bring them along. Lots of room for the kids to run around and play.

Starting Again - Sunday, September 13th during the 9:30 am worship service we will be starting a couple of new steams here at Fairlawn West. During the worship service we will introduce to you our new Christian Education and Nurture experience for our children in KAT (Kids Alternative Time age 5 to grade 5) and the nursery. The theme is "Bible Song: Praising God with Arts and Hands and Voices!". This will involve also the parents with some gatherings from them to help their children to learn at home with their take home journals. The Christian faith really cannot be "taught" in classes, but is shared with children predominantly in the home. So one of the nice features about this material is how it helps the parents with information and keeps them connected with what their kids are doing in the class. We will be team teaching this with 2 adults for 3 months at a time. So we are looking for adults willing to give 3 months to be in the classroom. The material is very well laid out and if you are interested, we can let you look at it to consider being part of this exciting new experience of sharing the faith in Jesus Christ with children.
Also, on that Sunday, we will honor John Gossett who was recogonized by the Eastern Ohio Association of the United Church of Christ in May for having completed the years of coursework and interviews to be a Partner in Ministry.

New Sermon/Vision series - Starting on Sunday, September 20th, David Loar will begin a sermon series on the Book of Acts. The first part of the series has the title of "The Ever Widening Circle." If you would like to do preparation for this series, begin to read the Book of Acts in the Bible. A good version to read it in is "The Message." This series will help us to reset our focus on what is our purpose as a Christian church. Also during this time, a group of our leaders are reading together the book "Pursuing the Full Kingdom Potential of Your Congregation" by George Bullard

Weekly groups that are open to all:
1. Prayer & Worship gathering on Mondays, 7 pm in the Vista Room. There is a prayer request book in the front lobby to write your prayer requests or place them on the back of the Connection Card. COSTS: You arrange and provide your own transportation to and from Galveston (probably by plane); costs for local transportation and food will be shared. Housing is $10/night/person. For more, contact George Siddall 513-228-0515 or gtsiddall@yahoo.com.
