week of Feb 7 2009

Even the most winter hardy among us is ready for the end of the snow and cold we have had for a month. The only problem is that with the warmer weather this weekend we may have a big mess with water leaking in due to roofs and gutters thawing!

The theme for Sunday's 9:30 am service is "Random Sample." The bulletin is available here.

We are now collecting pledges for the Interfaith Hospitality Network "Walk a Mile in Their Shoes" fund raiser. You can purchase "shoes" starting this Sunday. The Walk is Sunday, February 22 at 2:00 pm, here. IHN is an interfaith group of around 40 congregations that help host homeless families.

SOAP Bible Journaling gathering Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Vista Room. All are invited.

David Loar, our pastor, is available for conversation on Tuesday 5:30-7:00 pm at Angel Falls Coffee in Highland Square on West Market Street and on Friday 1:30-4:00 pm at the Nervous Dog Coffee at 1530 West Market Street.

A new worship service will begin on Sunday, March 1 at 11:15 am in the sanctuary. It will be 45 minutes and follow a more traditional liturgical style.

We will enter the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday February 25 with a worship service at 7:00 pm.

Potluck and movie on Sunday, March 1st starting with the meal at 5:30 pm and then watching “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” from the book series by C.S. Lewis “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
