| Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ will host a Garage Sale for its Kids Hope USA ministry on Saturday, May 6, 2006, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Kids Hope USA is a national ministry based in local Christian congregations of providing mentors/tutors for children in elementary school that are at risk. The garage sale will be in the Fellowship Hall of the church building. Fairlawn-West started its Kids Hope USA ministry in February at Fairlawn Elementary School. Presently there are 6 mentors each paired with a student. There are also additional people who serve as substitutes if the regular mentor can't make their weekly meeting with the student. Already in this short time it is clear that these children are growing from these new relationships. Here is the web site for the national Kids Hope USA.
